How do you tell your story?

November 19th, 2007 § 3

We all have a story.  Some parts are miserable, some are perfect.  There are times you want to cry when you hear a person’s story and times you want to sing.  I am going to show you a new and amazing way to tell your story, so keep reading.  My story is full of a mixture of both good and bad.  I call it it “mess and magic.”  That’s copywritten and the title of a book so keep away- you vultures.  But within my story I can see a greater purpose.  Normally it is only brief glimpses of something bigger than myself, but there are moments in my story where you can see a window into eternity.

I believe one of the most redemptive and healthy things we can do as people in community is to share our story.

What I have found is that there is truth in our stories.  Our histories are truth because they tell us who we are.  The Bible is truth because it shows us how we are to view the world and our place in it.  The stories of families and communities are truth because they create shared identities and give meaning to a strange world.

When I hear a person’s story I usually see God.  You might see something else, but I believe it is God working through story to reveal himself.

I would love to know your story, and I think I have discovered the best place to tell your story.  Click over to “our story” and create an account.  Its like face book, but a lot better.  Its a place you can tell your story.  Post a timeline with photos and captions, send updates to family and friends.  Its like a blog with a profile combined with a family history that demonstrates who you are and where you come from.

Send me a link when you tell your story.
